Evolution of the microstructure of sputter deposited TaAlON thin films with increasing oxygen partial pressure

Abstract Recently, quaternary oxynitrides of transition metals and aluminum have attracted increasing interest due to their tunable properties. Within the present work, a series of TaAl(O)N films was sputter deposited using constant nitrogen and varying oxygen partial pressures. The films were grown from single element Ta and Al targets. The deposition parameters were adjusted to obtain a Ta/Al atomic ratio of ~50/50 for the oxygen-free film and were held constant for the following depositions, with the exception of the increasing oxygen partial pressure and compensatory decreasing argon partial pressure. Dependence of plasma pH on oxygen saturation

Abstract The influence of haemoglobin oxygenation on the pH value of the blood plasma of healthy adolescents was investigated at 38°C by varying the parameters CO2 pressure, Hb concentration and buffer bases. A total of 5000 measurements gave the following results: 1. 1. The pHs difference between oxygenated and deoxygenated blood increases with diminishing CO2 pressure and with increasing Hb concentration. The Use of 15N NMR for the Understanding of Nitrogen Physisorption.

Abstract Nitrogen adsorption at liquid nitrogen temperature, 77K, is universally employed to determine pore dimensions. The nature of nitrogen physisorbed within the micropores of ZSM-5 zeolite was studied by in situ15N NMR as it depends on the partial pressure of the nitrogen and the temperature above and below 77K. An increase in the volume of adsorption of nitrogen at 77K occurs at a relative pressure of ~0.18 for this zeolite. The nature of the nitrogen was studied below and above this increase in nitrogen adsorption. We find that two states (phases) of nitrogen are evident. The aim of this report is to present first experience in comparing the course of brain tissue oxygen pressure values (PtiO2) to changes in jugular vein oxygen saturation (SjvO2), intracranial pressure (ICP), and cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) after severe brain injury. PtiO2 monitoring was done using a polarographic Clark type microcatheter (LICOX pO2 probe) (GMS, Kiel, Germany) with a diameter of 0.5 mm and a sensitive area 7.9 mm long inserted in a right frontal position. Abstract Hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) has been proposed as a candidate endogenous marker of tumor hypoxia and as a molecular mediator of hypoxia-driven malignant progression and acquired treatment resistance. In this study, HIF-1α expression in 68 biopsies of oxygenation measurement tracks from squamous cell carcinomas of the uterine cervix of 38 patients was assessed. Tumor hypoxia in pelvic recurrences of cervical cancer.

We have previously demonstrated in primary cancer of the uterine cervix that tumor hypoxia, as determined polarographically, is strongly associated with clinical malignant progression of the disease. Having applied a similar methodological approach to investigate loco-regional relapses, we found a pronounced shift to more hypoxic oxygenation profiles in the recurrent tumors than in the primary tumors. Median pO2 values in 53 pelvic recurrences were significantly lower than the median pO2 values of 117 primary tumors of comparable sizes (7.1 +/- 1.1 mmHg vs. 12.1 +/- 1.0 mmHg, p = 0.0013).
